Jira changelog

What changed in each Jira simulator release, newest first.

v0.0.1 — 2026-11-06

  1. A local Jira Cloud site for the code that files, works and searches issues. The first release of the Jira simulator: issues with their comments, worklogs, attachments, links, watchers, votes and change history; projects with their versions and components; and Jira Software’s boards, sprints and epics, served on Jira Cloud’s paths under /rest/api/2, /rest/api/3 and /rest/agile/1.0 on one port. Point the jira Python library, jira.js or go-jira at it as the site URL with any email address and API token. Nothing reaches Atlassian, and no email or notification is sent.

  2. Issues and their history. Create, read, edit, assign, transition and delete issues through either REST version, which share one store: an issue created through version 2 reads back through version 3. Search them with JQL through search/jql, and add comments (plain text on version 2, Atlassian Document Format on version 3), worklogs, attachments, issue links, remote links, watchers and votes. Saved filters and their favorites are kept too.

  3. Projects, versions and components. Read projects with their issue types and statuses, create and release versions, swap a removed version’s issues onto another, and create, rename and remove components.

  4. Four scenarios to boot straight into. jira_sprint_board (a software project mid-sprint on a scrum board), jira_release_train (four versions in every lifecycle state), jira_triage_inbox (five unassigned reports on a kanban board) and jira_fresh_site (one empty project and the full catalog of issue types, statuses, priorities and fields). --scenario boots one, and POST /_rystic/scenario loads one without a restart. The same requests from the same reset give the same ids and bodies, byte for byte.

  5. Boards, sprints and epics. Create and list boards and read their backlog, configuration and issues; create, start, complete, swap and delete sprints and move issues into them; group issues under epics and rank them.

  6. Tested against a live Jira Cloud site. The newest full measurement, of 2026-11-06, matched 835 of the 1035 tests that compare the simulator with Jira Cloud (80.7%), and 17 of those tests gave no verdict. The simulator’s page lists, under Limitations, the differences this release ships with.
