# Dashboard

The mail account drawn as Lob's dashboard in your browser, redrawn as your code calls the API, with the dashboard's own actions.

The Dashboard shows the simulator's postcards and address book as Lob's dashboard draws them, so you can watch your code's effect and act on the account as a person would. Open `$RYSTIC_URL/_rystic/ui` in a browser:

```bash
curl -s -X POST "$RYSTIC_URL/_rystic/scenario" -d '{"name":"design_studio"}' -o /dev/null
curl -s -o /dev/null -w '%{http_code}\n' "$RYSTIC_URL/_rystic/ui"
# -> 200
```

The Dashboard card draws Postcards and Address book, with each piece's proof, addresses, details and tracking. It redraws as your code calls the API.

### Postcards

The list shows every piece newest first, canceled ones included, which the API list leaves out. It has status tabs, search and a campaign filter over `metadata[campaign]`. A piece shows its newest tracking scan as its status, unless it was canceled or its API status is `failed`, `returned_to_sender` or `re-routed`. **View JSON** on a piece shows the stored record.

### Act as the account

**Create Postcard**, **Add Address**, **Delete** and **Cancel Postcard** go through the simulator's own API with a `test_` key, after a confirmation for a delete or cancel. Each lands as your program's call would: it takes the next id and the simulator's clock and appears in `GET /_rystic/calls`. The simulator's error responses show as they are, and a `429` is shown and never retried.

### Nothing is rendered

The simulator keeps a piece's template ids and merge variables, not its artwork, so a stored piece's proof is drawn from its fields. HTML typed into Create Postcard previews with its merge variables filled, in a sandboxed frame that loads nothing. PDF and thumbnail links are placeholders: a click says so and fetches nothing.

### Beside the postcards

**Mail stream** counts pieces by status and shows the simulator's clock, the pieces still inside their cancel window and every tracking scan. **Calls** lists Lob calls from both this page and your program, with writes highlighted; it does not say which client sent a call.

### What it does not run

Letters, checks, self-mailers, campaigns, templates, webhooks and live mode are drawn grayed and say they are not in the simulator. A reset or scenario load clears the form, any open dialog and the open page, and a reply from the previous scenario cannot change the new one.
